New Campaign!

VRI has started a new fundraising campaign! We are raising money for a legal scholarship fund for the youth of the Wargandi Comarca. Ultimately, it is the Kuna themselves who are best equipped to understand their own needs and to advocate effectively on behalf of their community. Education is one of the most effective and efficient tools for promoting development. Many of the youth are eager to continue with their educations, but are held back by extreme poverty, cultural barriers, and geographic isolation. To begin with, this fund will allow one deserving youth to pursue legal studies at the national university. While a few members of the three Wargandi communities have managed to gain some university level education, this initiative hopes to allow the first community member ever to start and finish their university legal degree. We are at the early stages of this initiative, but will keep you posted on how you can help.
